Herniated Disc

Herniated Disc, many have heard of it or currently are dealing with the issue but not know much about the problem. It’s an injury that responds well to chiropractic care treatment so you won’t have to take prescription pain pills or have to have surgery.

What Is a Herniated Disc?

A herniated disc is when the outer part of one of your vertebral discs has been torn. Then the inner portion of the disc, or nucleus, to protrude through the fibrous exterior. Other names for Herniated discs are ruptured discs or slipped discs. Without treating the herniated disc can end up compressing nerves that surround the disc.

Common Causes

Herniated disc can be caused by everyday wear and tear of normal aging. Your disc lose their hydrating content and then become less flexible which makes them more prone to tear or rupture without a lot of stress on them.Other common causes of herniated discs are: being over weight, physical jobs, moving improperly and genetics.

Common Herniated Disc Symptoms

Some people that have herniated disc don’t have many symptoms but others can feel intense pain. If your herniation is in your low back it can cause butt, low back, hip, thighs and feet. If the herniation is in your neck you will likely feel pain numbness or tingling in your shoulders, arms and hands.You might also experience weakness in these areas.

When to See a Chiropractor

Weather you have seen another doctor and they have told you, you have a herniated disc or have had imaging done that shows it. Its a good idea to come see us so we can exam you and go over the findings. But if you haven’t had someone diagnosis you but you have some of the listed symptoms its also a good idea to get checked out. The best thing to do is get checked out as soon as you start to feel the symptoms so your chiropractor will have a head start to your care if you  communicate them clearly.
