Herniated Disc Treatment for Chandler Patients

Herniated Disc Treatment for Chandler Patients

A doctor in a white coat uses a pointer to explain a model of a human spine. The model shows vertebrae, nerves, and a highlighted disc.

Living with a herniated disc can make even simple parts of your day feel difficult—driving, sitting at work, walking through the grocery store, or getting comfortable at night. For Chandler patients dealing with low back pain, leg pain, numbness, tingling, or sciatica, Boardman Family Chiropractic offers focused chiropractic and spinal decompression care just a short drive away in Ahwatukee.

Our office helps patients explore non-surgical options for disc-related pain, especially when symptoms are interfering with daily movement and quality of life.

Why Chandler Patients Drive to Boardman Family Chiropractic

The drive is shorter than you think. From the Chandler Fashion Center, it’s a straight shot up the I-10 — typically 20 to 25 minutes depending on time of day. Most of our Chandler patients tell us it became routine within the first two weeks of treatment.

Chandler has many healthcare options, but disc-related pain often requires more than a quick adjustment or generic pain-relief plan. Patients who suspect a herniated or bulging disc often need a careful evaluation, clear explanation of their symptoms, and a treatment approach that may include spinal decompression, chiropractic care, soft tissue support, and rehabilitation.

For Chandler residents, the drive to Ahwatukee can be worth it when the goal is not just temporary relief, but a structured plan for back pain, sciatica, and disc pressure.

Patient’s experience:

“I’ve suffered with back problems for most of my adult life. I’ve come to accept back pain as normal and expected. At least once a year, many times more than that, my back would “go out” and I would have to suffer for a week or two, sometimes more. In late 2008, my back went out again. But this time, it didn’t get better. It got progressively worse. I continued with my chiropractor at that time. That helped keep the pain from getting worse, but it never improved. In January of 2009, it forced me to cut back on bowling and exercise. I’ve been bowling for over 20 years and it’s a major part of my life. Only now, every shot I took hurt.

Finally in April, it happened. Something blew out. The only way to describe it would be to say it felt like it was a balloon with hot water had exploded in my low back. After both x-rays and MRI’s, it was determined that I had herniated not one, but two discs. Fortunately, friends that I bowl with are patients at a Spinal Aid clinic and gave me the materials.

I met with Dr. Boardman and entrusted my recovery to him, his staff and to Spinal Aid. I began to feel some relief after only a week and a half (6 sessions) and knew at that point that I had made the right decision. I had gone 30 sessions which lasted 2 months and I can say comfortably that the disc problem is gone. The rehab I received at this office was one on one and dedicated time to me as needed. I am back in the gym, but still taking it easy as I don’t want to risk re-injury. I will be following the prescribed exercises and am planning on bowling again in a few months. But for now, I’m happy to say that I can get in the car and drive without the disc pain. I can spend time at work, behind my desk, without disc pain. I can even take care of my house work and yard work without disc pain. I would recommend Dr. Boardman and the Spinal Aid center for disc decompression.”

What Is a Herniated Disc and Why Does It Hurt So Much?

Your spinal discs are the cushions between your vertebrae. When one herniates, the soft center pushes through the tougher outer layer and presses on nearby nerves. That pressure is what causes the pain — whether it’s local back pain, shooting leg pain, numbness in your foot, or all of the above.

The frustrating part is that rest doesn’t fix it. Neither do most medications, which only mask the pain while the disc stays in the same position. Spinal decompression works by gently separating the vertebrae, creating negative pressure that pulls the disc material back toward center and allows the nerve to breathe. For most patients, it’s the first treatment that actually targets what’s wrong instead of managing the symptoms.

FAQ: Questions We Hear from Chandler Patients

Is it worth driving from Chandler to Ahwatukee for herniated disc treatment?

If your symptoms involve leg pain, numbness, tingling, or recurring low back pain, it may be worth seeing a provider who regularly works with disc-related conditions and spinal decompression.

Can a herniated disc cause pain down my leg?

Yes. A herniated or bulging disc may irritate nearby nerves, which can contribute to sciatica-like symptoms such as pain, burning, numbness, or tingling down the leg.

Do I need surgery for a herniated disc?

Not always. Many patients first explore conservative options such as chiropractic care, spinal decompression, therapeutic exercise, and lifestyle changes before considering more invasive treatment.

Can I drive after a decompression visit?

Most patients can drive after treatment, but this depends on symptom severity and the recommendations given during your visit.
